Way back in the beginning of my career, I received an award from my employer as part of its “You’re What We’re Famous For” recognition program.  I reveled in the award because, at age 20, I was so young to be working in such a high-end retail environment and struggled so much in that first year to find success.  I was what Neiman Marcus was famous for.  As I flew away from the retail nest and as my image consulting practice became more prominent, it became vital to be true to what I have become famous for.

Looking Good Doesn’t End at 50

Last week I had the opportunity to lead a career workshop entitled “Looking Current and Age Appropriate” for a group of women and men who age 50 and over.  My challenge?  To somehow simulate my 1:1 client experience with a large group.  To accomplish this, I prepared an assessment checklist and then paired up the group so each pair could assess each other using the carefully constructed list.  Each person left the workshop with a short and manageable action plan as a result.  There was great interaction between participants, and their feedback was strongly positive.

Some people think that getting a good night’s sleep depends solely about the mattress you sleep on.  Now I think a mattress is definitely a big part of that equation.  But in no way do I think it’s the only thing.  Unless you’re a prisoner, many choices are available to enhance your sleeping experience – and I don’t even just mean about how you decorate your bed and your bedroom environment; although this is also hugely important.
