Textile Examples Designed by Mary Jaeger: Lavender Diamond Rib Collar cape, Mountain Scarf-orange-green, Blue Castle Hat

I first met textile maven Mary Jaeger at last year’s annual New York Fashion Conference.  My craving for wearable textiles has never been the same since.  Mary truly is an extraordinary designer.  Her style is so right for Silicon Valley that we hatched a plan to make her amazing collection available outside of her private TriBeCa studio.  Design conscious people like you need to see the works of Mary Jaeger.

After having accepted a very special invitation to visit Mary in her studio last December, I was hooked!  Walking into her creative space that doubles as a showroom was like entering a rock star’s dream closet full of amazingly designed sculpted and dyed accessories in unusual colors, striking textures, and artistic patterns.

Spring Style Suggestions – Some Know No Season

Spring Style Suggestions - Dolce_Gabbana

This Dolce & Gabbana dress helped a client make the right impression on the first day of a conference. There’s nothing quite like having “conference confidence” to stand out in a crowd. It worked!

Nearly every day so far this year, I could be spotted scouring the stores in search of clothing and accessories that would become my spring style suggestions for each client.  The most amazing experience is the moment when people who have entrusted me with managing their images get to see those style suggestions for the very first time.

The big reveal isn’t a private showing of curated art.  These style suggestions are “just” clothes, but aren’t just any clothes.  They are selected to work for each client’s body, coloring, style, comfort, occasion, needs, and messaging.  That makes these wardrobe items some serious style suggestions.

A New Uniform Style For Men

Coiffed, yet rugged, the new uniform style for men seems to have taken hold in cities like New York and San Francisco. But is it a look for all men?

Coiffed, yet rugged, the new uniform style for men seems to have taken hold in cities like New York and San Francisco. But is it a look for all men?

If you believe everything you read about men’s fashion, you might have been falsely led to believe that there is a new uniform style for men.  You can spot this trend on a guy with a coiffed hairstyle, juxtaposed by scruffy facial hair, and granddad styled clothes made to look youthful, outdoorsy, and deep in thought.

As you might expect, I do a lot of reading about men’s style.  As well, I do a lot of observing and evaluating people on the street, in stores, and at events.  Some would also argue that I am instrumental in helping to create a cultural shift in how men conceive of their style in Silicon Valley.  And because I’m an independent thinker, I’m skeptical about this new ‘uniform style’ for men.

Inspiring Styles Define Your Unique Personality

While considering new wardrobe items for a number of clients during the past week, I was struck by their many different yet inspiring styles.  I provide my clients with a great deal of guidance on which clothing and accessory items they should consider adding to their wardrobes.  Even though these particular clients share some overlapping personality traits, each has their very own unique style.

Turbocharge Your Personal Style At A Joseph Rosenfeld Image Bootcamp

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to turbocharge your personal style with me, but haven’t done it because of time or budget? Now you can. It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of the Turbocharge Your Personal Style Bootcamp! After months of developing this Bootcamp concept, I am now ready to introduce you to this great opportunity to work together.

What You Get Out of A Turbocharge Your Personal Image Bootcamp
Actually, Bootcamp participants want the same thing as my private clients: to significantly improve their presence by updating the way you look. The way the Bootcamp has been developed, you get to honor and celebrate exactly who you are. And with the added benefit of working with a small group of participants who share the same interests and desire the same kinds of outcomes, you will finally see yourself as your truly are, and be supported by others. Not only will you get a fresh vision of yourself, others will be able to reflect that back to you. One thing you can count on is that you’ll come away from this powerful weekend turbocharged to embody your essential qualities.

The weekend is very comprehensive.
• It all begins with a 1:1 personal assessment before the Bootcamp actually begins. You and I first clarify what you want to get out of the Bootcamp.
• Next, you will develop your personal style profile, which becomes the basis of all the work we will do.
• Then a team of top hairstylists will work with each of the participants to update your hairstyle.
• Once you start to see your updated self, we’ll delve into your mindsets about your image and shopping, and develop healthier thoughts and practices.
• From here on in, you are immersed into the shopping environment for some real “hands-on retail therapy.”
• You’ll learn best shopping practices that are meaningful to your image and style, put looks together, and present the outcome of your selections to me and to the group.

I want you to have the skills, knowledge, and mindset that allow you to manage your personal image with total confidence so that you’re not worried or afraid of what visual messages you’re conveying in social or business situations.

Why I Created The Turbocharge Your Personal Style Bootcamp
This Bootcamp is specifically for rising stars and others who might be restarting their careers, and whose time and resources are limited. Still, they have a strong desire to discover and reinvent their personal style, via a fast and affordable immersion into personal style transformation. This Bootcamp gives more people the opportunity to experience transformation in a way that is different from how clients work with me privately.

What Are The Differences Between the Bootcamp and Working Privately?
There are several differences between attending a Bootcamp weekend and working with me privately. Each has their distinct benefits.

A Turbocharge Your Personal Style Bootcamp requires the commitment of just one weekend of your life plus a full month of follow-up that includes homework assignments and a mid-month conference call. In contrast, private clients work on their image development over the course of a full year. So during a Bootcamp, we accomplish in just a weekend what happens over the course of a number of months.

• Private clients don’t get to enjoy the opportunity of shopping in stores with me. In an effort to help manage their image development while minimizing their time commitment, I do all the shopping and present all of the possibilities to them. But at a Turbocharge Your Personal Image Bootcamp, you get to have the experience of being in a retail environment with me. You get to learn how to shop successfully so that you can retain this important skill and are able to have the experience on your own after the Bootcamp.

Turbocharge Your Personal Image Bootcamp participants learn and experience their transformation in small groups of up to 6 participants. By experiencing image development in a small group, you witness and support the transformations of others, and you equally receive the same connection from your fellow Bootcamp participants.

Art and Fashion in Paris, And Your Image

While in Paris, I saw three amazing art exhibits that connect art and fashion in Paris, and your image. The Musee d’Orsay has been exhibiting “Impressionism and Fashion,” an impressive collection of paintings by the likes of Renoir and Manet, and of period fashions on loan from the Musee Galliera – Musee de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, and from the Musee de la Mode et du Textile – part of the massive Louvre museum.  The Impressionists were certainly well known to focus on the surroundings in which their subjects were painted.  But what this exhibit proves is that the painters were also highly focused on the changing fashion of the time.

Crucial Colors of Fall 2012 Women’s Fashion

Gallery

This gallery contains 10 photos.

When it comes to Fall 2012 women’s fashion, it seems that all that glitters is gold and black.  As you know, I’m a huge fan of color.  Thinking about a metallic and a color that represents the absence of color … Continue reading

Fall 2012 Fall Women’s Fashion – Material World

You don’t have to be Madonna to be a “material girl.”  Fur, leather, and velvet create a material world you just might enjoy living in this fall.  There’s an overall richness to these materials that excite women and entice women to see dressing in a different way. Continue reading

Fall 2012 Women’s Fashion – Pitter Pattern

This fall, patterns in women’s fashion have been running as wild as animal skins.  But animal-inspired patterns are hardly the only pattern concepts you may find in your favorite store.  If you’re interested in patterns, you should consider the colors to be sure they flatter you, and be thinking about whether the pattern you like reflects messages that are true to you.  A third suggestion is to be sure that the patten size is of a scale that is in balance to your physicality.  This is a three-pronged approach to making sure that you are wearing a pattern, and that it is not wearing you.

Fall 2012 Women’s Fashion – Constructure

I’m summarizing this week’s post about Fall 2012 women’s fashion in just one word: constructure, which refers to that which is constructed or formed.  From last week’s post, you would have noticed definite examples of constructed clothes.  But two particular standout trends seem to sum up the concept of constructure very well.  Military styles and details are very important this season, and so are belted looks.  For the militant fashionistas [pun firmly intended], you could even find a belted military look.  A secondary element of the military trend is the importance of olive, khaki, and other green tones this season.
