Joseph Rosenfeld Speaks About Style in Tomorrow’s Silicon Valley

Book Joseph to speak to your organization

Joseph Rosenfeld speaks to Silicon Valley professionals and will speak for free to business conferences and to in-house programs for larger businesses.

Joseph’s signature topic is “Style in Tomorrow’s Silicon Valley.”

The face of Silicon Valley isn’t what it used to be.  It continues to change.  Style in Silicon Valley is in a period of great evolution.  There may yet be a long way to go. But, the diversity of people and talent here is vast.  Style in Silicon Valley tomorrow is being shaped by today’s current direction.

Silicon Valley counterculture has embraced a rule-less casual environment.  This is now shifting.  An insider’s perspective of this shift could lead one to conclude that there is no real shift. Change, in terms of style, tends to occur at a glacial pace. Silicon Valley continues to be dominated by men. Men resist change. On top of that, men’s fashion styles change at an imperceptible pace, if only because men resist change.

Women are playing more of an important role in the changing face of Silicon Valley. This strong influence of women leaders in all areas and levels of high tech [except, notably, for the CEO role] adds to the dynamism that creates changes in personal style.

Women will not be forced to work and perform under the construct of something that is deemed a “man’s world.”  Although Silicon Valley’s workplaces maintain sexist and ageist behaviors, it’s not going to be that way for much longer.

Imagine that something as basic as a person’s style can become a great equalizer.  The style of Silicon Valley tomorrow will further shape the face of Silicon Valley.

This can only be good for business. It can only be good for individuals involved in these businesses, and for our economic sustenance.
