I decided earlier this year, before hitting the big 47, that it was time to do something about my own skin care regimen and not be lazy. I wouldn’t be able to rely on the good family genetics that blessed my mother and grandmother with flawless skin. I’ve been using AmorePacific for several months now, and now I want to give you the skinny on AmorePacific [see what I did there?].
Years ago, I experimented with AmorePacific. But, honestly, I was too lazy. In spite of the fact that I show up looking polished, professional, and presentational, I love taking shortcuts. That meant when it came to my skin care, I did nothing. Doing nothing had begun to “rear its ugly head” [I just cannot resist these puns]. Within weeks of taking more committed and intentional steps to improve the state of my face, AmorePacific has proven to be quite effective.
But how in the world does this stuff work? Here’s the skinny on AmorePacific.
AmorePacific is a multigenerational family owned business, actually begun by its matriarch, Sung-Whan. An ancestor had written down numerous recipes that captured her curiosity and the business that became AmorePacific was born. She first created products in her kitchen where she crushed camellia seeds. Some decades later, after the Korean War, “Amore Girls” rode around town on bicycles, literally pedaling the latest in skin care innovation.
In fact, AmorePacific was the first beauty brand to ever establish a research lab. It did so during a period of economic uncertainty soon after the Korean War. Their earliest modern innovation, in 1966, was the incorporation of ginseng as a cosmetics product base. Their biggest and most successful innovation was the world’s first skincare line in which the main active ingredient is green tea. The company owns vast and lush green tea fields on Jeju Island.
If only it would be effective to crush green tea leaves into powder and then apply it to the skin, the world would clamor to do this. But, it really doesn’t work that way. This explains the intense relationship AmorePacific has with reinvesting into research and development. In fact, recently, Forbes has recognized AmorePacific as one of the world’s most innovative companies.
Even with all of this nice little history lesson, the real skinny on AmorePacific comes down to its effectiveness. In plain words: it works.
I’m naturally skeptical about skincare products. I often feel the same about such products as I feel about bras from Victoria’s Secret. All the money you spend on a bra there goes into the marketing of the bra. And, let’s be honest, the bras aren’t good. But, women buy them anyway because people will buy into the hype.
My critical mindset about skincare products has been fed by the marketing hype of many skincare companies. There’s the hope and promise that they all work. I opted to try AmorePacific because I had done enough research to know that the company has a very good reputation.
The skincare regimen has now become a ritual. It takes virtually no time at all to complete the multi-step process. Even so, the few moments that it takes to do the whole thing is a little gift in the morning, and just before bedtime. It helps me to feel grateful for the gift taking care of myself. I have seen a noticeable difference in the quality of my skin. It is hydrated, glowing, cooler, far less red, and some soft lines have all but disappeared, while one other is fading. Essentially, my skin looks as healthy as I feel from the inside out. Truly, so many people were asking what I’m doing differently that I had to finally give you the skinny.
